Technical Support

Our on-going development of patent-protected alloys positions us as the industry leader in R&D-driven products.

Our technology facilities are located at the Kokomo headquarters and consist of 19,000 square feet of offices and laboratories, as well as an additional 90,000 square feet of paved storage area.

We have six fully equipped technology testing laboratories that include:

  • a mechanical test lab, a metallographic lab, an electron microscopy lab, a corrosion lab, a high temperature lab and a welding lab.
  • These facilities also contain a reduced scale, fully equipped melt shop and process lab.

Our technology, engineering and technological testing staff consists of more than 25 people. Many have engineering or science degrees, doctoral degrees, with the majority of degrees in the field of metallurgical engineering or materials science. 

Research and Development

Our research and development commitment is quite unique in today’s highly competitive environment. While others have reduced their efforts in research and development, Haynes remains committed to market and product development. We continue to focus directly on customer demand and to conduct long-term research and development. Our research and development team includes physical metallurgists, electrochemical scientists, high-temperature and corrosion scientists, mechanical metallurgists, and welding engineers. Our technology, engineering and technological testing staff consists of more than 25 people. Many have engineering or science degrees, doctoral degrees, with the majority of degrees in the field of metallurgical engineering or materials science.

Because of our strong technical expertise, we focus our efforts on understanding the technical requirements of the application. Whether we are developing a new high-temperature alloy that pushes operating temperatures to higher levels or a unique corrosion-resistant alloy that performs where other alloys can’t, we partner with our customers to create innovative solutions for demanding applications and emerging technologies.

With this approach, we’ve developed hundreds of commercial and engineering contacts throughout the world and engage them regularly as part of our research and development efforts. We work directly with our customers’ engineers to design their products more aggressively and explore technologies previously considered infeasible.

Our team of technical support staff works closely with our customers to understand their business, their products and the markets they serve. This collaborative approach enables us to provide value to our customers beyond that of the alloys themselves.
